Growing Up & Growing Apart

I have finally faced it. The moment that anyone who has ever been 20 has experienced: growing up and growing apart from people that were once closest to you. I've been having a difficult time dealing with and accepting the realization but plain and simple that's what I must do.
It's hard distancing from someone who once held so much space in your mind for so many years. This could pertain to either a romantic relationship or a friendly one. It's tough to let go of people that once meant so much to you. However, it's important to remember that durations of relationships don't come with a forever stamp. It's ok to move on and move forward.
People grow up and start to think differently, see differently, and act differently. That's OK, that's normal. What's hard is having to accept that with all that change and growth you may not connect with those you once connected best with.
Bottom line of this post is that it's a reminder to accept changes as they come your way. People come in and out of your life and as long as you remember who you are and surround yourself with those that make you happy, you're doing something right.
